What does Nivel do?

Health is determined to a large extent by chronic disease, infectious disease and environmental factors. Nivel collects and analyses data on disease and use of healthcare services that is vital for policymakers and healthcare professionals. With its databases and monitoring stations, Nivel provides insight into trends and health impacts, which supports disease prevention, proactive care and the development of effective health strategies.

What questions about being and staying healthy can Nivel help you with?

Nivel provides data science expertise to help with healthcare innovation. We monitor the use of healthcare services and the incidence of infectious diseases. We also research chronic conditions, public health, healthcare substitution and emerging technologies such as AI in healthcare. Collaboration with organisations like the National Institute of Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and the Healthcare Institute of the Netherlands enables us to support health policy and contribute to a healthier society, through the work of our Centre of Excellence on ‘Reuse of healthcare data from primary and chronic care’, for example.

Our stakeholders come to us with research questions on subjects like:
