HEALIT4EU: sound evidence for a better understanding of health literacy in the European Union, 2014-2015
Duration: Apr 2014 - Jun 2015
Background
Health literacy increasingly recognized as health determinant, much is happening also in EU. However, most studies on health literacy have been done outside the EU. Therefore, little is known of prevalence and effect on outcomes in EU context and of (cost-)effectiveness of policies and interventions to deal with low health literacy in the EU.
Aim
1. Assessment of HL interventions specifically in an EU context
2. Mapping of existing policies in EU Member States and tools to measure progress aimed at improving health literacy
3. Exploring the possibility to estimate levels of health literacy in the EU by compiling a multivariable model
Method
Desk research, literature review, questionnaire with stakeholders
Results
a report and several scientific articles
