Until now it has been quiet concerning influenza this winter in the Netherlands, but possibly we are at the verge of the yearly epidemic. All but one Dutch influenza virus isolates characterised so far are of the A(H1N1) subtype and are related closely to the strain for this subtype in the vaccine. Until now, one influenza B virus has been isolated. The peak of the yearly epidemic of RS-virus infections was in week 1; the number of RS-virus infections reported started to decrease in week 2.
